The 404 International Festival of Art and Technology is an independent and non-profit project, created in 2004 in the city of Rosario, Argentina. As the country’s first festival of Art and Technology, its uniqueness lies in being an itinerant initiative. Over two decades it has been annually presented in 13 countries: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Taiwan, Colombia, Japan, France, Mexico and the United States.
In 2026, the 23rd edition of the 404 Festival will be hosted in the 14th country, marking its first occurrence in the UK. From 26 August to 1 September, local, national and international artists will present their works in the NE England (Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland) at the following venues: Northern Dance, Northumbria University, Gallery North, Newcastle Contemporary Art (NCA), and Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens.
Local Organisers: Steve Gibson (Northumbria University) + David Leonard (Northern Dance)
