Catalogue Launch

Please join us to celebrate the catalogue launch for Listening to the Voices of the Rivers with a piano recital by Steve Luck and storytelling from Newcastle University students.

Free to attend. All welcome

This exhibition and community art program explored the vital role rivers play in sustaining communities and ecosystems. Drawing on Amazonian Indigenous philosophies and practices, the exhibition connected to initiatives in the North East of England on healthy rivers and rainforest curricula, addressing ecological sustainability, Indigenous knowledge, and community participation.

Schedule

4:30 pm - Refreshments served and networking.

5:00 pm - Introduction by curator Harriet Sutcliffe, artists duo Walker & Bromwich, curator Jamille Pinherio Dias, and curator Giuliana Borea.

5:15 pm - Storytelling by student Emma Harry  followed by piano recital by Steve Luck.

5:30 pm - Storytelling by student Euan Keelan  followed by piano recital by Steve Luck.

5:55 pm - Storytelling by student Emma Hogg.

6:00 pm - Event closes.

This exhibition and catalogue are a collaboration between Newcastle Contemporary Art, Newcastle University, University of London’s School of Advanced Study, and the Amazonart Project 

The exhibition took place at Newcastle Contemporary Art from 29th October to 22nd November 2025.
